Group Training
If you’re getting bored with your training or feel it’s time to spice it up and get an extra push into your workouts, Group may be the perfect answer for you! It’s an awesome way to keep those kilos off, maintain your motivation & make time to exercise. Group Training is a fantastic way to tone up, lose those unwanted kilograms that would normally creep on and best of all get fit and healthy.
And before you delve in any deeper please rest assured we are not a yell and scream bootcamp where you’ll be crawling around in the mud or humiliated if you can’t keep up. That’s absolutely not our style! We love to have a laugh and our classes are all about real people (yes that’s people who work in the real world not just the gym hehe, mums and dads and we’ve got a couple of grandma’s and grandpas too. We guarantee we’ll be able to make you feel welcome at every session and push you to YOUR ability, not the person besides you!
Classes are a mixture of cardio training, strength training, boxing and games.
Each session has been designed with variety in mind to challenge you and keep you interested.
All fitness levels are welcome!

If you decide that you love it and want to continue, then we will simply pro rata the amount. Yes it’s that simple!
TRAINING OPTION:
Group Training will be held at Parade College Bundoora (map below). We are either outdoors when sunny or indoors when the weather turns.
Group is run from Monday to Thursday in the morning and evening. This gives you lot’s of flexibility for your busy schedules and it gives you the opportunity to increase the frequency of your training.
You can train 2 days per week (Mon & Wed or Tues &Thurs up to 4 sessions) for only $30 p/week
OR
You can train and day of the week for only extra $10 (that’s up to 8 training sessions available to you for only $40p/week)!

Here is some information on what’s included in our Training Sessions:
Kickboxing & Boxing
A great workout that’s fun and an awesome stress relief! During these classes you will be taught correct boxing & kickboxing techniques and it will be a mixture of punching mitts, kicking, knees, shadow boxing and other activities (all equipment is supplied)
Circuit Training
Variety is the spice of life and this is guaranteed to mix up your training. We’ll be doing anything from cardio to strength training, and both high and low impact exercises. Circuit Training is the key to great results!
Cardio
Get the heart pumping, the body moving and burn lots of calories. A great class to push your fitness to the next level. Classes will be mixed up with running drills, cardio exercises, and anything else I can think of to make you sweat!
ATB Blast (Abs, Thighs and Butt Blast)
A lower body workout designed to help you shape and tone the tummy, thighs and hips. Be prepared to feel the burn!
Strength Training
A must for everyone! These classes will accelerate your fitness results and increase your strength and power for day to day life. Whether you are looking to tone or bulk up, lose weight or improve your general strength. I encourage you to come along.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT GROUP TRAINING:

Q: Will I have to run for the entire session?
A: NO WAY! The session is mixed up so you will be doing a wide variety of things throughout the hour. Even on the
cardio session days we mix it up so that you don’t run for the entire session!
Q: Do I have to be fit to join group training?
A: No, absolutely not. Group training is designed for all levels of fitness. The great thing is that if you are unfit, Group
Training will get you fit! And if you are already fit – that’s great, we promise that we will push you to become fitter.
Q: I have seen group training sessions run before and they look intimidating.
A: Not to worry there will be no yelling or screaming. Our training style is to ensure that everyone is relaxed,
having fun and a laugh but working hard at your own pace (after all that’s why we are all there). Military style training is exactly that – for the Military!
Q: What is the difference between Group Training & signing up for a Gym?
A: Group Training is a personalised and fun approach to getting the results that you want!
Have you ever noticed that when most people sign up to a gym, they’re at gym day in day out doing the same thing but never seem to be getting results? One of the main reasons is because a lot of the time people don’t know how to train their bodies effectively to get the results that they want. It’s also because a piece of exercise equipment can’t motivate you! It doesn’t encourage you to do that extra rep when it’s tough, it doesn’t challenge you to go that little bit harder. It doesn’t make you accountable to actually go to gym as you planned (because we always think that we’ll “go tomorrow” if we skip a session), and it certainly doesn’t give you that fun & interaction that you have by working out in a Group environment with others.
When you sign up for Group you have a Personal Trainer working with you to push you to your true potential in a fun and safe environment. You’ll also find that the time flies by (no more clock watching!), you’ll get a great workout and have a laugh along the way. Because we’re constantly mixing it up to (so not the same old treadmill workout), you’re body will start changing & you’ll get your results.
And it’s so much more stimulating than a treadmill that doesn’t talk back to you 😉
Q: Who will my instructor be?
A: At AR1 all of our Personal Trainers are fully qualified and have a great background and variety of interests in the fitness industry. All of our Trainers hold a Senior First Aid certificate and will use their great knowledge to ensure that you get a fantastic workout in a safe and friendly environment.
Q: How many people are enrolled in a class?
AR1 has a policy that a minimum of 4 people are needed to run a session and a maximum of 18.
Everyone will be given full attention to ensure they are working out at their own level & with correct technique and the great thing is you get the rewards of training in a group (so lot’s of social interaction, playing games together, motivate and encourage each other and of course you can share the pain together hehe).
Because we limit our groups to 18 it’s important that you book your spot in the term to ensure you don’t miss out.
(The late night sessions require a minimum of 6 to be enrolled)
Q: What happens if I am unable to attend a session?
A: Group Training will run hail, rain or shine. When you purchase a Group Training Package it allows you to attend as many sessions as you would like for your package, which gives you flexibility. Unfortunately our policy is if you miss a session you will be unable to
“make it up” in the next program, however if there is room you may make it up on an alternative day during the term.
Q: What happens if it is raining / bad weather?
A: All of our INDOOR winter sessions will run regardless of the weather as we are completely protected from the elements.
OUTDOOR sessions in most cases of a slight shower will not effect the training session it will go ahead. We also have access to a fantastic INDOORS location all throughout the year so if we need to we can move indoors.
If for some unforeseen reason we are unable to use the indoors location and it looks like it will be impractical or unsafe to run a session we may have to cancel. We will ensure we give you as much notice as possible if we need to cancel.
Q: What happens if I want to train 2 days per week, but I’m not free on both of the days Group runs?
A: We appreciate that life can be hectic and sometimes your schedule won’t fit in with ours. In the situation where you would like to train on 2 days but you have other commitments and don’t think you’ll be able to make it regularly to both sessions, please let us know. Depending on the availability in each ‘group’ we may be able to accommodate you to fit it in with your schedule.
For example you may be able to train on Monday and Thursday night etc.

Q: Do I receive a discount if I only train in the mornings or only train in the evenings?
A: No we don’t offer discounts if you don’t use all of the sessions. The majority of our clients train in either the morning only or in the evening only. We have a few ‘crazy cats’ that train in the morning and then that evening as well, however they are the minority. We offer access to all of the training sessions on your chosen day because we find that it gives our clients the most flexibility to work in with their lifestyles. Because of work/family etc you may not be able to come to your normal sessions but you may be able to come to the other training session that day. Also who knows, you might get hooked and want to do two sessions per day 😉
Q: What will happen if I know that I won’t be able to commit to the entire term (i.e. I’m going away for 2 weeks)?
A: We completely understand that just because you’re training, things will sometimes interrupt your schedule. We don’t believe that just because life gets in the way that you should have to put your training on hold until a ‘better time comes along’. If you know that you’ll be going away (i.e. have holidays planned, or you may know that your partner won’t be home to help look after the kids in advance) we can simply prorata the amount of time that you will be there. That way you don’t have to wait for a new term to start, you can continue to maintain your health & fitness lifestyle and you’re not wasting money for training that you know you won’t use! Where ever possible we try to work with you to make this a realistic and maintainable lifestyle & experience for you.
Q: What happens on a Public Holiday?
A: Group Training will not be run on public holidays and no extra sessions will be scheduled to make up for these days. We try to schedule around public holidays so the program is no interrupted however this is not always possible.
Q: Am I able to bring my children along?
A: Yes you can. We understand that getting a babysitter may not always be an option for you however that shouldn’t stop you from training. As long as your children are well behaved they are more than welcome to play in the playground (at the park) or sit quietly in the hall (indoors). We always ask however that you watch your children and ensure that their attendance doesn’t disturb the rest of the group.
Q: Do I have to book for each session?
A: No, you don’t need to book for each session, however it is important that you book your place for the term. It is our policy that we have a maximum of 18 in each group, which is why it’s important you’ve registered your place.
Q: If I do not wish to continue Group Training am I eligible for a refund?
A: Once the program has commenced there are no refunds.
